Give to SBE

SSU Campus with Mike Lee and group of students

The Sonoma State School of Business and Economics is more than a business school - it’s a training ground for the most passionate leaders who are ready to use their talents to make a difference in our world. Uniting students from some of the top-ranked Universities, including UC Davis, UC San Francisco, Texas A&M International, UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly, and Cal Berkeley, we are guided by one purpose: To do business with impact.

Giving Day at Sonoma State University supports every aspect of the academic experience. Your annual gift enhances collaboration and innovation while strengthening each donor selected fund, the Center for Professional Engagement (CPE), Wine Business Institute (WBI), Center for Entrepreneurship and the core of our purpose driven business teachings, to enhance individual excellence, expanding high-risk and high-reward research, and growing the programs that prepare today’s students for impactful careers.

With just one gift - of any size - you are making a difference that lasts!

Cynthia Mordecai
Business Administration - Marketing

Cynthia met her mentor and current employer at the SBE Career Expo in her first year at Sonoma State. She started her career with WSI Smart Marketing with an internship and was soon promoted to senior accounts manager. Today, Cynthia is leading a successful career with the WSI team as their marketing division director.

“In my time at Sonoma State, I was very intentional with the programs and resources offered by SBE. I utilized resources including mentoring workshops, Career Expos, and networked with professors and other students. I now have a strong foundation for my career and I am forever grateful to SBE. My professors were extraordinary and I apply my learnings on a daily basis, both inside and outside of work.”

Claire Hobday
Executive MBA in Wine Business

Claire had 20 years of finance experience, but felt she had plateaued at a controller level. While in the program she was recruited and hired as CFO at C. Mondavi and Family.

“I was able to apply my learning to our strategic program as the director of the Board of Appellations St. Helena, and make an immediate improvement in staff management in a labor constricted market. In the program, I felt I had unparalleled exposure to a network of wine industry leaders.”
