Sonoma MBA Alumni Forum to Provide Meals, Haircuts for Homeless on March 11

Event Partnership with Catholic Charities and Leading Edge Salon Finds Creative Way to Connect Through Giving
March 6, 2018

Rohnert Park, California - The School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Sonoma State University (SSU) today announced that the Sonoma MBA Alumni Forum is hosting a day of giving back this Sunday, March 11, at Samuel L. Jones Hall in Santa Rosa, the largest full-service shelter in northern California. Hair stylists from Leading Edge Salon will provide haircuts from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., followed by a chef-inspired meal for more than 100 shelter residents.

"After the devastating October fires, we know that many members of our community are in need and even more are looking for ways to give back," Aaron Inman, Chair of the Sonoma MBA Alumni Forum and CFO and Winemaker for Lucky Rock Wine Company said. "Partnerships with local business and community organizations allow us to increase our positive impact and bring more services to those in need. It's an opportunity to support the community that has given so much to us."

"A haircut can be transformative, not only for someone's outward appearance, but also for self-confidence, self-respect, and self-love. Even the smallest act of kindness can have a huge impact and we're honored to have the opportunity to support our community in this way," Karen Garratt, Senior Stylist at Leading Edge Salon said.

Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa operates Samuel L. Jones Hall in partnership with the City of Santa Rosa, the County of Sonoma, and the Community Foundation Sonoma County. Leading Edge Salon is an Aveda Concept hair salon based in Santa Rosa. The Sonoma MBA Alumni Forum is an alumni-based organization dedicated to building a vibrant community through opportunities for continued learning and engagement.
