New Faculty Talent Enhances School of Business and Economics in Fall 2015

Expert Instructors Bring Depth, International Perspective to Economics, Leadership, Business Law, and Wine Business

Rohnert Park, California - The School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Sonoma State University (SSU) today announced the addition of new faculty members beginning Fall Semester 2015, including three full-time tenure track faculty and six adjunct faculty. Dr. Adele Santana and Dr. Damien Wilson are both full-time faculty members in Business Administration, and Dr. Astha Sen is a full-time faculty member joining the Economics Department. New adjunct faculty teaching this fall include Steven Angel, David Gary, Tiffanie De Liberty, Jerry Kohler, Meredith Rennie, and Dave Macias. Gary, Rennie, and Macias are graduates of SSU.

"These new faculty members bring enormous talent across the board, from behavioral economics to leadership, business and human resources law to sustainability, and accounting and finance to wine business education and research," Dr. Karen Thompson, Managing Director of Academic Programs and Chair of the Business Administration Department said. "As a result, students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels will gain an important international perspective on domestic and global business issues, and learn from leaders at the top of their respective fields.

Dr.  Adele Santana is originally from Brazil and will be teaching the Leadership and Innovation course as part of the Professional MBA program. She will also serve as instructor for the Seminar in Management Strategy and Policy for undergraduate studies. Prior to teaching, Santana worked as an independent consultant in organizational behavior and development.

Dr. Damien Wilson is an international scholar from Australia appointed to the Hamel Family Chair of Wine Business. His charge includes launching new wine business education programs, establishing global partnerships with universities and wine businesses, leading research and collaboration, and engaging wine business leaders in the work of the Wine Business Institute. He will be teaching the undergraduate Wine Marketing course this fall.

Originally from India, Dr. Astha Sen was a visiting professor at Truman State University and a research intern with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Dr. Sen has primary research interests in public finance and tax policy and secondary interests in behavioral and experimental economics. She will be teaching Microeconomics.

New adjunct faculty member David Gary is a Business and Systems Analyst at DayMen and will be teaching Production Operations Management. Tiffanie De Liberty is an attorney and former legal counsel for Jackson Family Wines, Inc. She will be teaching the MBA course, Wine Legal & Regulatory Issues. Steven Angel received his law degree from George Washington University and is an human resources consultant. Angel will be teaching the undergraduate course, Legal Environment of Business. Jerry Kohler is a retired Certified Public Accountant and accounting instructor from Oregon who will be teaching undergraduate Intermediate Accounting. Meredith Rennie is a Senior Manager at Moss Adams and will be teaching the undergraduate course, Ethical Reasoning in Accounting. David Macias will be teaching Managerial Accounting and worked previously for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
