Rohnert Park, California - The School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University today announced a new course, International Wine Business Strategies, offered in partnership with Kedge Business School, taking place June 4 - June 8, 2018 in Bordeaux, France, and July 9 - July 13 in California's Sonoma and Napa counties.

"This opportunity allows us to engage the international community while building an educational partnership that provides unique professional development for our students and region," Executive Director of Graduate and Executive Business Programs, Dr. John Stayton, said. "The exchange of ideas in the classroom and during site visits provides enormous benefit to the growth of our students and their organizations, at home and abroad."

The wine world is full of competition, and cooperation," Director of Kedge Business School's Global Executive MBA, Dr. Hervé Remaud, said. "This partnership illustrates perfectly the extra added value for MBA participants when two well-known business Schools engage their respective strengths to deliver such a course. I look forward to welcoming Sonoma MBA participants in Bordeaux, discussing the 'luxurisation of the industry,' and visiting Sonoma State University's new Wine Spectator Learning center in July."

International Wine Business Strategies is comprised of two intensive week-long residential sessions and associated projects, including critical analysis of business processes and regulations in the two countries, the challenges and opportunities of small and large wine companies in each country, and consideration of succession planning, capitalization, mergers, and acquisitions. The "economization" and "premiumization" of the wine industry in the U.S. and Europe will also be compared and contrasted from strategic, economic, and marketing perspectives.

Site visits to wineries in France include Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux, and Lafon Rochet. Site visits to wineries in California include a day-long live case study at Benziger Family Winery and Imagery Estate Winery in Sonoma Valley, and iconic wineries in Napa Valley. The cost of the course is $2,800, and includes five days at Kedge Business School in Bordeaux, France, including all site visits, and five days at the new Wine Spectator Learning Center at SSU, including all site visits in the North Coast wine region.
